READY, SET, TIME TO RELAX...

Ah Hawaii... I hate to leave you

when I visit. Nothing compares in my book so it's important to savor every moment. I always return with souvenirs and when I can't fit it all in my suitcase, I find a way to recreate the vibe back home. This last trip was extra special as my brother got married on the most insanely idyllic beach I've ever encountered. Check out Lanikai in Kailua, Oahu.

Congratulations Frank & Kim!

Warm body oil. Owners Winnie Beattie & Rob Magnotta from Warm in New York describe it as "a day at the beach, salt, sand, grit, sweat, suntan lotion, warm skin kissed by the sun, bohemian holiday, on vacation". Or In one word sexy!

Chloe Resort 2015 looking super chic and carrying forward the island life vibe.

Palm leaf porcelain serving dishes by Houzz look pretty nested together or filled individually with dried fruit & nuts.

This is me in a vintage dress

by Tracey Feith. I seem to pull it out at least once a summer.

Macrame is back for home and now totally sophisticated. I'm always on Etsy and Ebay searching for wallhangings and plant holders that instantly make anywhere feel beachy.

Visit the He'eia Pier General Store & Deli in Kaneohe, Oahu. Everyone swears by their naturally raised beef burgers. Eat local always! This beautifully displayed dish is what my brother Frank and his wife Kim ate on their recent honymoon on the Big Island in Kona. Mango encrusted Mahi Mahi. over Okinawan sweet potato topped with mango salsa. Almost too pretty to eat.

This is Israel Nash my new favorite musician. He doesn't play the yukalele (or even from Hawaii) but instead has an indie roadhouse 70's vibe. The album Rainplans will be released this August. I'm totally obsessed and  couldn't stop listening to him while soaking up the sun.

Here's a painting by Josef Albers from his leaf studies done at some point in the 1920's. Although not in the style Albers is typically known for, all sharp angels and squares, it still truly reflects his  strong  sense of color and composition.
